PINK SHIRT CAMPAIGN

The staff of Family and Children’s Services of Brockville is represented by the Ontario Public Services Employee Union (OPSEU) local 441. OPSEU Children’s Aid Sector is organizing “Pink Shirt Day”; being held this year on April 14, 2010. The original Pink Shirt Day was held by a group of students from Central Kings Rural High School in Nova Scotia in September 2007. This spontaneous action was undertaken to support a grade nine student new to the school who was bullied for wearing pink. The campaign is now worldwide and is marked by a day where people are called on to wear pink and to bring attention for the need to eliminate bullying and harassment; especially from the lives of the children in our community.

We encourage you to join us and other organizations in our “Bullying Stops Here” call to action on April 14, 2010. For further information please contact Rick Pybus (local 441 President) or Johanne Wyss-Huskinson (Brockville CAS Chief Steward) by leaving messages for them at the OPSEU Regional Office 613-498-3104. Additional information can be found on the internet by searching Pink Shirt Day 2010.
