Family and Children's Services of Leeds and Grenville is a child welfare organization. We operate from three locations throughout the region, providing child protection services.

Our (75+) employees include social workers, and a wide variety of support and administrative personnel, all of whom are committed to protecting the children and strengthening the families of Leeds and Grenville.

Hiring Criteria

The following outlines are qualifications for our various frontline staff:

INTAKE or FAMILY/CHILDREN'S SERVICES WORKERS:
Master of Social Work preferred; Bachelor of Social Work Degree. Our social workers do investigations into allegations that children are in need of protection and deal with long term family service, as well, they provide investigative and case management services to families and children; assuming complete case management responsibility for protection caseload; assess family and individual functioning including risk to children; providing therapeutic intervention to clients; protective services to clients; as well as administrative responsibilities including preparing reports, correspondence and documents for internal and external use.

MSW SALARY RANGE:
Effective April 1, 2006 - $46,886 - $63,203 per annum.
Effective April 1, 2007 - $48,293 - $65,099 per annum.
Effective April 1, 2008 - $49,741 - $67,052 per annum.

BSW SALARY RANGE:
Effective April 1, 2006 - $44,700 - $61,175 per annum.
Effective April 1, 2007 - $46,041 - $63,010 per annum.
Effective April 1, 2008 - $47,422 - $64,901 per annum.

FAMILY SUPPORT WORKERS:
Child and Youth Worker Diploma preferred. Our family support workers provide direct service to parents and children in the family home. The primary responsibility is to develop goal oriented, time limited case plans that will assist parents to build the parenting skills they need to adequately protect and care for their children.

CYW SALARY RANGE:
Effective April 1, 2006 - $36,158 - $44,477 per annum.
Effective April 1, 2007 - $37,382 - $45,811 per annum.
Effective April 1, 2008 - $38,503 - $47,185 per annum.


You may be required to provide any or all of the following as a condition of employment:

  • An acceptable internal Agency Record Check
  • Criminal Reference Check
  • The use of an automobile
  • A Valid full "G" Ontario Driver's Licence and vehicle are required
  • Driver's abstract - obtained from local license bureau
  • Proof that public liability and property damage insurance, in the amount of $1,000,000, is on your vehicle
  • Notification to your insurer should mention the possibility of transporting children in the care of the Agency, and may be a requirement of your position

Benefits

The Agency is dedicated to providing permanent full-time employees a comprehensive benefits package to meet the ongoing needs of each staff member.

Vacation:
Vacation is 20 days per annum.

Sick Leave:
Staff are granted 10 casual sick leave days per year for temporary illness. The agency also offers a comprehensive short term dissability plan, subject to the presentation of medical documentation acceptable to the agency. As well, each employee may use up to three (3) of these sick leave days, annually to care for an immediate family member.

Long Term Disability Insurance:
LTD coverage provides a benefit to employees should they become totally disabled.

Pension:
The Ontario Municipal Employee Retirement System (OMERS) provides employees a pension upon retirement. Pension contributions are shared 50:50 by employee and employer.

Travel Allowance:
The Agency's travel allowance is as follows:
Effective April 1, 2006 - 41 cents per kilometer.
Effective April 1, 2008 - 42 cents per kilometer.


Cell Phone:
The Agency provides all social work staff with a cell phone.

Type of Positions

Full-time Employee:
An employee who is regularly scheduled to work more than 24 hours per week.

Part-Time Employee:
An employee who is regularly scheduled to work less than 24 hours per week, either on a contract or with permanent status.

Contract Employee:
An employee who is hired for a specified period of time.

Professional Development

We provide a comprehensive new worker training and orientation program, including on-the-job training.
All new child protection workers are required to attend competency training through the provincial Ontario Child Protection Training Program. We support the ongoing development of our staff by offering an in house training, annual calendar, as well as opportunities to attend external training and development courses.
