FAQ

Adoption

Adoption is a process that unites a new family with a child where the birth family can no longer care for him or her. It is intended to provide the child with permanence and security. In Ontario, adoptions can be arranged through Children’s Aid Societies (CASs), private adoption agencies or directly through the courts if the parent is a relative or stepparent. Family and Children’s Services of Leeds and Grenville is responsible for adoptions locally.

While other agencies act on behalf of parents looking to adopt children, F&CS of Leeds and Grenville acts on behalf of children looking to adopt a suitable family.
